Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect the following, directly from you and as you use the Platform:

• Account details — your name, email address, and (where relevant) your institution, batch, and role. If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google profile and email to create and authenticate your account.
• Your submissions — the essays you write and the audio you record for speaking practice, along with your answers, attempts, and the feedback generated for them.
• Learning and usage data — band estimates, progress, streaks, practice history, and how you interact with features.
• Technical data — device, browser, approximate location derived from your IP, and diagnostic logs used to keep the Platform secure and reliable.
• Payment data — records of your transactions and activation status. Card and wallet details are handled by our payment partners; we do not store them.

2. How we use your information

We use your data to:

• provide, personalise, and improve practice, evaluation, and analytics;
• generate AI feedback, band estimates, and study recommendations;
• authenticate you, secure accounts, and prevent abuse;
• operate institute features such as attendance, batches, and billing;
• provide support and send essential service communications; and
• meet legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations.

3. AI processing of your submissions

To score your work and produce feedback, the text and audio you submit are processed by trusted third-party AI providers acting on our instructions. This processing is used to evaluate your submission and return results to you; it is not used to identify you for advertising, and we use providers on terms that do not permit your inputs to be used to train their general models without an appropriate basis. Processing happens over encrypted connections.

4. How we share data

We share personal data only with: (a) service providers who process it on our behalf — for example, cloud hosting and infrastructure, content delivery, automated evaluation, error monitoring, and payment processing — under contracts that require them to protect it; (b) your sponsoring institution, where you use IELTS Lite through one, limited to what that institution needs to manage your enrolment and progress; and (c) authorities where we are legally required to do so. We do not sell or rent your personal data.

5. Storage, security, and retention

We protect your data with encryption in transit (HTTPS/WSS), access controls, and other industry-standard safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to limit and quickly respond to any risk. We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations; after that, we delete or anonymise it.

6. Your choices and rights

You may access and update your account details, request a copy or deletion of your personal data, or ask us to restrict certain processing, subject to applicable law and our legitimate or legal need to retain some records. To make a request, contact support@ieltslite.com. If you use IELTS Lite through an institution, some requests may need to go through that institution.

7. Cookies and local storage

We use a small set of cookies and browser storage that are necessary to sign you in, keep you signed in, and remember your preferences. See our Cookie Policy for details.

8. Children

The Platform is intended for learners aged 16 and above, or younger learners acting with the consent and oversight of a parent, guardian, or sponsoring institution. We do not knowingly collect data from children without an appropriate basis.
